About the Author
Diana L. Paxson is the author of nearly three dozen novels, including Marion Zimmer Bradley's Ravens of Avalon and several works of spiritual nonfiction, including Taking Up the Runes. Excellent Resource

This is a terrific book for anyone interested in the Western Oracular traditions, and in their current reconstructed practices. It builds on Paxson's other books, in particular the how-to Pathwork book, Trance-portation. (Trance-portation acts as the workbook to this textbook, as it were.) Filled with accurate, well-researched history on the ancient world, it also relates the history of experimentation and re-discovery of modern Heathens and other Pagans working to re-create this tradition of oracular work for the community. (This book is particularly helpful in defining the difference between divination and oracles.) Very, very useful, and very clear in its presentation.

As a High Seat practitioner myself, it was with eagerness that I bought and read this book by Diana Paxson. Once again, she nails it. Good stories and vignettes from her own experiences and travels, and lovely sources. Thank you, Ms. Paxson!

Had I known better I would not have bought this one first

When I bought this book I was umaware that it built upon a previous one. I plan to buy "Trance Portation" before I go through a systematic study of the exercises the author gives here. Had I known better I would not have bought this one first.
