Fascinating insight into a true case

This is the type of book you can't put down. Don Rabon dissects court transcripts and other written and verbal communication to give us a look into the real-life case of a young man who seems to have everything going for him. Yet this professional with a good reputation in a small Southern town ends up in federal prison. Why? Mr. Rabon tells us in Alex Klosek's own words. Excellent reading for anyone interested in human psychology and why people do what they do.

Don Rabon hits it out of the ballpark. A compelling story with a personal twist, formatted to keep you enthralled, but also thinking. What would you do? Where would you look next? What dynamics are in play? I will come back to this book, recommend it to colleagues and clients, and be the first to start a professional book club where we can discuss the points to ponder. Fascinating...and a true picture into the methods by which fraudsters manipulate their victims.

A delightful journey through the criminal mind

This book is a fascinating account of the Ponzi scheme which unfolded not too far from Don Rabon's hometown. I found the story absolutely fascinating from start to finish. It provides both insight into the criminal mind, as well as providing a lot of "food for thought" that is invaluable for any investigator or auditor with interests in investigating white collar crime. The book's format is a little different, making this book an excellent choice for reference or even for use in a college course on fraud and investigations. The book also includes the key transcripts and testimony from the trial, which really adds to the book's value. I would recommend this book to anyone interested in white collar crime or fraud investigations.

Kimberly Knight does it again! Wanting Spencer is an awesome addition to the Brandon and Spencer trilogy. It was freaking awesome and gave more answers to the questions that the trilogy brings to the readers mind.

What can I say about Wanting Spencer ...

Well, to begin, I'm more in love with Brandon, if that is possible. He is more determined, more passionate, more jealous, even more than the Spencer's POV.
Is he the same in Wanted? Yes, but still very different, it's a new story. Any doubt I had in her view, I was now clarified, in his view.

Kimberly, what can I say about you ... Simple: Talent!
I love your writing, your description of the characters and the the way you took the story!
As much as I love Brandon, I have to admit that the chemical Brandon & Spencer is perfect!

This is one of my favorite series ever so reading it from Brandon's POV is just an added bonus. As usual Kimberly did not disappoint. This is a novella so it is a rather quick read full of drama and sex! I love Brandon's protectiveness and how caring he is. And sex scenes from his pov, well, they are HOT!!!!! Great Job Kimberly!

This is an awesome guide to a great camera

This compact field guide is, in my opinion, a must-have for anyone with the new Nikon D5300 DSLR. David's writing style is concise, informative, and to-the-point. With this book a D5300 owner will have all the information needed to get started with the camera and to utilize all of the advanced features that are available. The compact size of the book is just what I was looking for. It is large enough so that the text is very readable but small enough to be easily portable. It will stay in my camera bag for reference as I am out shooting. I am very happy to have this Field Guide.

Nice Companion Book

I carry this with me when I bop around town - it is an easy reference guide and wonderful companion to the main "Guide" book on this camera. I recommend this author to anyone looking for excellent, easy to read and follow information on a particular camera with shooting tips to boot. The education gained is well worth the price of the book.

One Sexy Alpha Vampire not enough? How about TWO?

Seeker's Solace is the 4th book in T.J. Michael's Vampire Counsel of Ethics series. I did read the 1st book in this series Carinian's Seeker, but did not read book 2 or 3. I say with an uber sad face only because GAH Seeker's Solace was amazeballs!

I enjoyed so many aspects of Seeker's Solace. First off I want to say that the multi-cultural aspect adds the extra touch of realism that I think is missing in many paranormal romances. With a variety of physical descriptions It adds an extra dimension to every character. The fact that they were hunky and super alpha - well...that certainly added a layer I always enjoy. Vampire are not my favorite, but T.J. Michaels makes me want to switch teams. GO TEAM VAMPIRE!

The main protagonist, Jovon, is everything I love to see in a female character. Intelligent, strong, and self aware. I loved that Jovon accepted the opportunities she was given and that the story was not about her need to defy having a mate or maybe two? Heh heh. That's right you read it correctly - two. Two alphas. Two sexy vampires. Both could be hers. This book can make the pages melt and should come with a fan. It is smokin' and one of the sexiest books I have read this year.

The only reason this book is not getting a perfect rating is that I felt built up for a huge fight and didn't get it. I kinda wanted some ass kickin' and justice!!! I know. I am real hard ass for those 5/5!

If you are fan of super hot alphas and strong plot lines with plenty of heat...look no further! I highly recommend Seeker's Solace!

For her first menage, this wasn't a bad read. But as an avid reader of most thing MMF, I found it to be a bit lacking. Like, the attraction between the three was told at me instead of me experiencing it. Does that make sense?

Read The Rules and be busy with Your Church

Buy The Rules and just be your Christian self, remembering your morals and values. Save sex for marriage and share worship together. In The Rules it talks about being a creature like no other - well, God made you like no other! That shouldn't be hard to do! Be busy in your Church. Have interests that would make you a good help-mate and good room-mate. Stay in shape. Cook for yourself. Stay current so you can discuss events, you don't have to have a Ph.D. You don't have to play hard to get, you ARE hard to get.

Where to differ from The Rules - DO NOT DATE TO PRACTICE. DATE WITH PURPOSE. Have an active prayer life; pray for your Boaz; pray for God to lead you into his field. Ask God to lead you into your purpose and to ready you for your mate so you can be ready when your Boaz is ready.

The Rules has the same information just more in depth but you need to put Christ into it.

This book, while well meaning, is a watered down version of The Rules. Buy The Rules and remember to look for God in a man, only date with a purpose and save your sexuality for marriage. Busy yourself with being healthy in all ways, healthy in Church and you will shine plenty for who God has planned for you.

Each one contains well written instructions illustrated with both photographs and detailed drawings. Patterns for all appliqué pieces are included. Martingale has published all six of Kim's "Simple" series of books and now her newest book Homestyle Quilts Simple Patterns and Savory Recipes.

Homestyle Quilts Simple Patterns and Savory Recipes was co-written with her friend, editor and writer, Laurie Baker. About the Author

With just the third quilt she'd ever made, self-taught quiltmaker Kim Diehl became the winner of American Patchwork and Quilting magazine's "Pieces of the Past" quilt challenge in 1998, turning her life down a whole new and unexpected path. Her work has been featured in numerous national and international quilting magazines. In addition to her best-selling "Simple" series of quilting books for Martingale, Kim has designed several fabric collections for Henry Glass & Co., enabling her to be involved in the full circle of quiltmaking from start to finish.

For more than 10 years, Laurie Baker has been a freelance editor and writer for the quilting, sewing, and crafting industries, and she occasionally designs projects for publication. Laurie lives in West Peoria, Illinois, with her husband, Todd; her college-aged children, Nick and Caitlin; two fat and sassy cats; and an enormous arsenal of fabric that she loves adding to. Good food as well as good quilt patterns

I have yet to meet a book written by Kim Diehl that I haven't liked. This book is no exception to that. Baskets, Churn Dash and flowers and berries are a few of the themes of these blocks. But that is not all, each pattern has a recipe to go with it and it is made to cook while you sew. What could be better? (I know, someone to cook and clean for you!)

A Baker's Dozen of quilts and recipes will keep you feed and sewing for many weeks to come. The projects start out with a paragraph about the quilted item and is followed by the material and cutting lists. These are clearly written and easy to follow.

A colored photo with the finished quilt and block size and who designed, pieced, appliqued and quilted the item comes next. Plenty of graphics are strewn throughout the written directions. Templates, if needed, are provided at full size.

The recipes are highlighted in a colored box and vary from slow cooker to baking in an oven. They are simple, filling comfort foods and I can't wait to try several of them. The authors have just added one more reason to buy their books --- good food as well as wonderful quilting projects.

I'll pass on the recipes & request more patterns please

Ms Diehl has another winner. The patterns in this book are very simple with more of a formal look since she is using fewer fabric selections in each quilt. Most patterns are bolder with larger sized patterns, some are duplicated from her previous books.

I am kinda disappointed in seeing recipes in her book. I would have liked to see more instructions included on how to extend a wall hanging into a lap quilt or options of what to do in case you are not wanting applique in a quilt. In other words, "to applique or not applique this quilt". The space taken up by recipes could be used for these types of things or just more quilting tips & hints.

All her books are geared toward a "planned scrappy look". She uses strip piecing techniques in all her books & she tells you how much yardage to buy of each color. It would be hard for a beginner to follow along if she/he was trying to use fabrics from the scrap bag. Cut strips of fabric, crosscut those strips into x number of blocks/half triangles & so forth. This is a good thing for me since I do not like things turning out totally scrappy..there is a rhythm & flow in her quilts due to her choice of colors & placement of fabrics. There is much to be learned from her color combinations. In fact, I have taken a lighted magnifying glass (purchased on Amazon) just to get a closer look at the prints & background fabric.

Just because her quilts are displayed in a "country setting" does not mean they will not look fantastic in a contemporary or modern room. If you are really good at color combinations, then you can move away from the country look quite easily. I have no color sense, so I stick with her color suggestions & am always pleased.

Bottom line, easy directions, simple patterns, quick construction if you follow her strip piecing directions. I'll have more patterns & pass on the recipes though, just my opinion.

Wonderful Homey Quilt Book

I have been a big fan of Kim Diehl. I like her style of quilts a lot. I was not familiar with Laurie Baker but these two women blend their styles together perfectly. I loved the quilt patterns and have several picked out to make in the near future. I also loved that Kim and Laurie shared several of their easy recipes in the book. A great book with beautiful pictures and great recipes.

classic bayesian text

This is a book written in 1973 but showing the brilliance and forethought of George Box. Wiley reprinted it in its popular paperback classic series in 1992. The first few chapters introduce Bayesian ideas and show how with noninformative priors the Bayesian results resemble the classical frequentist results. This essentially reviews the work pioneered by Harold Jeffreys.
In the latter chapters more complex problems are introduced including many that do not have nice classical solutions. Box and Tiao show how Bayesian methods contribute ideas that provide new insights into these problems. The discussion of hierarchical models anticipated the developments in Bayesian methods that occurred in the 1990 when the MCMC methods burst onto the scene.

This book is nice for a historical perspective but anyone seriously interested in doing modern Bayesian analysis needs a book that deals with the MCMC methods and there are many nice books available these days.

Bayesian Inference in Statistical Analysis

Have you ever wondered about the origins and meaning of statistical concepts? Most of the books on Statistics shy away from this topic, they just throw formulae at you! Not this book. In the first two chapters it goes to great extent to explain a very important concept of noninformative prior. It also states very clearly the differencies between more traditional Sampling Theory approach and Bayesian Analysis. While majority of Statisticians prefer the ideas and notions of Sampling Theory, majority of Scientists and Control System Engeneers are more inclined to use Bayesian Analysis because of its practicality. This book gives a plenty of material on Bayesian Inference and shows how to put theoretical knowledge into practice. It presents the material in transparent and orderly fashion but it requires certain degree of mathematical sophistication. A prerequisite would be any standard text book on Statistical Inference.

Classic of Bayesian Analysis

This book is a classic, particularly with biologists and medical research; less so with physicists. I wish I had read it when I was an undergraduate. I would have wasted less time with Classical methods.

E.T. Jaynes was not overly impressed. In his assessment of this book, He wrote:
"G.E.P. Box is, like L.J.Savage, a curious anomaly in this field; he was assistant to R.A. Fisher and married his daughter, but became a Bayesian in issues of inference while remaining Fisherian in matters of significance tests, which he held to be ouside the ambit of Bayesian methods. In Jaynes (1985), we argue that, on the contrary, any rational significance test requires the full Bayesian apparatus."

I think this is unfair. The book shows its age, but it gives fully Bayesian solutions to many classical problems and it is well written, although the material is dense for a beginner.
