This was not an expanded version!

I read all of these stories when they first came out:

Dragonmen Book 1: Mate Hunt
Dragonmen 2
Dragonmen 3: Mate Dance.
Then I saw that Book 1 was released as Mate Hunt: Dragon Men with the information that it was "expanded" and re-edited. I bought it to see what was expanded. There were more scenes and details. So I was OK with it.

However, when the #2 book was released as Mate Test: Dragon Men, it also said it was "expanded" and re-edited. That was an outright lie! Nothing was expanded about this book at all! I feel like I was tricked so I requested my money back. If you've never read anything in the Dragon Men series, it's OK. But for those of use looking for an expanded work, this was a ripoff.

I think that the story was good, but at the same time I would have liked it to be somewhat deeper. It certainly has the potential to be a bigger and more elaborate one.

Good but wished for more

It was a good book but very short. I didn't even really resolve one of the major issues that the main character was dealing with which was such a great disappointment. Even though he had found his mate, he still mourned for his lost lover and even towards the end was thinking about him. It would have been nice to read that he had fallen in love with his mate and that he had made peace with his lovers death but unfortunately that never came about. So all in all it was a good read but it left much to be desired.

About the Author
STEVEN O'HARA, Professor of Architectural Engineering and Licensed Engineer            Professor O'Hara received his Master of Architectural Engineering from Oklahoma State University, and has been a member of the teaching faculty at the School of Architecture since 1988.  His primary areas of interest include the design and analysis of masonry, steel and timber structures, with special interest in classical numerical structural analysis and the design of concrete structures.  Professor O'Hara is one of four faculty members in the Architectural Engineering program at OSU, and as such teaches courses in the AE program at all levels; he enjoys his close mentoring relationship with the students in the AE program at OSU, as he also performs the role of their academic advisor.  Outside the OSU classroom, Professor O'Hara is an Affiliate Professor of Civil Engineering and Architecture in "Project Lead the Way", a nationwide program for high school students.  He trains the high school teachers responsible for introducing engineering principles into the secondary curriculum, though project based learning, and has authored the workbook for the curriculum.            As a faculty member, Professor O'Hara has received numerous awards; in 2001 he was the honored recipient of the first Melvin R. Lohmann Professorship, in 1999 he received the Chi Epsilon Excellence in Teaching Award, and in 1995 he was recognized as the Halliburton Excellent Young Teacher for the College of Engineering, Architecture and Technology at OSU.

Straightforward and efficient

I found this book to be the best resource for getting my studying started and understanding the scope of all the exams. I also used a few Kaplan guides, which I found to be overkill. For a few of the exams, I used the specific Ballast books, but I only used them because I was able to borrow them for free. They were great as well, but provided more questions and exams than I could have ever found the time or desire to pursue.
If you're preparing to start taking exams, this book is the best resource, and will save you a lot of time. If you think you're weak in a particular area, use this book first, and then consider supplemental information/books from Ballast or Kaplan.
btw, I passed all my exams the first time around.

Consistently good study guide

This is a great study guide- very comprehensive. I've used this as my primary study guide and have been doing well on the ARE. I think it's well written and isn't so dry that it's impossible to get through. I'm giving 4 stars because of some things I didn't like regarding formatting/ information location (that resulted in being unprepared for some questions).

Be sure to review the actual ARE test guidelines from NCARB. The chapters split the subject matter up fairly well, but there are a few where the material is in the wrong section (i.e. Vertical Transportation should be in "Building Systems" chapter, but is in the "BD&CS" chapter).

There are 2 chapters at the very end - Chapters 55 & 56 - Code info- and they should absolutely be the first chapters in the book!!!! They are not and I just realized, 3 tests in, that these chapters exist. It's my fault for not reading the T of C, but I think they're not placed properly. This is critical stuff on most every test and doesn't belong hidden in the back.

OK that is all- would definitely recommend. I went through each chapter and made my own flashcards for review a few days prior to the test. It's a lot of trees, but effective!

REGARDLESS OF WHAT PEOPLE SAY THIS BOOK IS TERRIBLE. ITS NOT ORGANIZED TO NCARB'S EXAM FORMAT. BUYING THIS BOOK WAS ONE OF THE BIGGEST MISTAKES OF MY LIFE. I ONLY PASSED THE EXAM WHEN I BOUGHT OTHER STUDY MATERIALS LIKE ARCHITECT EXAM PREP.

Havanaise is among the most challenging violin and orchestra pieces and a standard showpiece in the repertoire of every serious violinist. Written in 1887 for the composer's friend and colleague, Diaz Albertini, the work is based on the Cuban dance, Habanera. Its languid mood is highlighted by bursts of virtuosity that resolve in the serene spirit of its opening.

About the Author
Mary Berry is the the much-loved judge on the BBC's The Great British Bake Off. She has more than over 70 books to her name, many of which have been written with her assistant and friend, Lucy Young. Cordon Bleu-trained in Paris, Mary began her career as a magazine cooking editor before publishing her first cookbook in 1966. Mary is also an AGA expert and taught AGA masterclasses for many years from her home with Lucy. In 2009 Mary was awarded the highly coveted Guild of Food Writers Lifetime Achievement Award and in 2012 she was made a CBE in the Queen's Birthday Honors list.

Quick, Easy and Luscious!

Several times a year my daughter or granddaughter who live in the UK hop the pond with a suitcase full of Goodies for Grandma - always including several new cookbooks. The latest visit produced quite a haul, including Mary Berry at Home. (The actual title is "Mary Berry and Lucy Young At Home." Lucy is Mary's long time assistant.) I'm building quite a stash of Mary Berry books, but this one has very quickly become a favorite, one I keep immediately to hand.

Very few of the recipes in Mary Berry at Home are at all complicated, though you will find a few things that are imminently suitable for a special Sunday or holiday meal. You'll find lots of recipes for things to produce at the drop of a pin when somebody has to put dinner on the table and a wealth of little bites - appetizers, sandwiches, and the like. One of my most favorite pages is the two page spread of "Proper Sandwiches" you'll find on pages 234-236. Mary and Lucy give a long list of sandwich ideas of the sort that one serves for tea or picnics. Among them, the very best chicken sandwich I've ever eaten (I hated tarragon until I tried this with fresh tarragon) and the best cucumber sandwich too.

There are also a number of drool-worthy desserts, at least some of which are small. I adore the Mini Victoria Sandwiches - a yellow cake filled with raspberry or strawberry jam and whipped cream, usually dusted on top with confectioner's sugar. The recipe makes a dozen little cakes that you split and fill. Since there is only one of me, ten of them (unfilled) go into the freezer for later. Also drool-worthy - a Chocolate and Orange Pavlova and Mini Banoffee Pies (crumb crust, caramel filling, fresh banana, whipped cream. YUM.)

Every recipe features not only very clear instructions that are easy to follow but also suggestions for making the dish ahead of time &/or freezing where appropriate. Recipes are in UK metric, so you will need a digital scale for baking. A decent one can be had for $20 or less and will open up a whole world of cooking to you. Teaspoons and tablespoons are the same as we use here in the US.

There are a few "translations" you need to be aware of -

Plain Flour - All Purpose Flour
caster sugar - superfine or bartenders sugar
icing sugar - confectioner's sugar
Sun Blushed tomatoes are a kind of half-dried tomato not available in the US, but you'll find recipes online for making your own.
Knob of butter - about 2-3 tablespoons, what Grandma called "butter the size of an egg"

BTW - did I mention the Posh Jacket Potatoes and the Maple Roasted Root Vegetables? Those last are a real hit at Grandma's, even with those who don't like sweet potatoes or butternut squash or parsnips.

Another great cookbook from Mary Berry!

Mary Berry is just a queen of British cooking and this is a great addition to her large collection of cookbooks. There seems to be something for everyone. You will have to convert the oven temperatures to Fahrenheit, but that's not a very big deal. There is a conversion table in the front of the book, Fahrenheit temps just aren't listed on the individual recipes. Some of it isn't really suitable to most Americans; for instance, unless you live where you can hunt pheasant, it's not likely you're going to be able to just buy some at the store, and I don't know if I've ever seen smoked haddock in a store over here. However, there are many, many recipes that are wonderful that we can cook here in the US with no problem. The "Chicken with Vermouth & Sage" is a nice play on the Italian "Chicken Saltimbocca". It's very quick and easy, and white cooking wine substituted for the vermouth still worked fine. The "Chocolate Obsession" cake is definitely on my list to make when I can cheat on my diet a little later! It looks AMAZING!! The "West Country Gratin"--oh, my! "Maple-spiced Chicken" is definitely on my to do list as well. I really like the "Time for Tea" section in the back. My daughters love having tea parties, and these are great recipes for simple tea parties at home as well as larger, grander tea parties to entertain.

This book is a joy just to read through, not to mention cook out of! There's not a photo for every recipe, but there are plenty of photos scattered throughout. "Mary Berry at Home" is a cookbook that I highly recommend and hope to enjoy for years to come.

Great system

I just wanted to put my two cents in on the system that Dr. Haenisch has in teaching Algebra and Geometry. His system is spot on with both the textbook and the workbooks that he has created. His step-by-step approach is clear and assessable to the students that I work with. My students do the homework because they understand it! They do better on test and assessments because of this system. These books are around 10 years old and not quote on Quote "Common Core" but math has not changed in quite a while nor will it. Yes, the top 10% of Honors kids should be pushed harder then what this system provides, but for the majority of students I see in front of me they are willing to do the work if they can be successful. Dr. Haenisch has developed a system that is a step-by-step approach with enough problems that the students will practice without giving up in the first 5 minutes. Next year we will get another round of text books that will be around 700 to 800 pages long that will be unusable, written by committee, that no math teacher will ever use, (most of them will recreate the wheel and come up with there own work) Me, I will stick with the system that Dr. Haenisch has developed and my classes will run a lot smoother. Written by a teacher with 40 to 50 per class 5 classes per day, Geometry and Algebra 2.

I really enjoyed #2. Hoping for a #3.

In the first Leprechaun book it was hard to like the arrogant Collins. He was a bully and very selfish. Yet there was something about him that intrigued me. I guess some people get off on bullies. It's the eternal search for the bad boy and Collins was that bad boy.
Karen is home now and can't seem to get her mind off of Collins. Awake, asleep, watching TV. She even thinks it's ridiculous because he was so mean to her and raped her, but she hates to admit that maybe it wasn't totally rape...maybe she kind of enjoyed some of it.....a lot.
Of course while all of this thinking is going on Collins is watching her through a magical golden mirror trying to decide whether or not to fetch his woman.
What I've written here tells you nothing compared to what's in store for you when you read this book. Erotic romance, touching story, a Hero, A villain, a maiden in distress, it has it all. Oh Yeah, and an HEA. It's a book after my own heart. Plus it's almost twice as long as the 1st book so you're really getting your moneys worth. Lol! Good job Nikita. I'm on my way to read it again slower this time and after the review cause I remembered the story.(I have a bad memory)Teehee!
I do recommend this book (both of these books) to erotic romance readers everywhere. It's plain fun.

Great Sequel with a Happy Ever After

What a great sequel to the Horny Leprechaun. I enjoyed getting to see a different side of Collins as he pines after Karen. This is the Karen that he was less than gentle with in book one.

This was a fun read to any fan of the Horny Tales series because the Night Gaunt and his Queen have a cameo appearance. There's abduction, fighting, hot leprechaun sex, and a "Happily Ever After" at the end of this rainbow!

The waiting was worth it!!!

After the release of The Horny Leprechaun I was eager to know to what happen to Collins and Karen as many of you out there were too, and it was worth the wait. The Horny Leprechaun 2 leaves off where the first left off and does not disappoint. In this humble opinion of a reviewer I give The Horny Leprechaun 2 five stars with a "Way to go Nikita!" I can not wait for the next story in the series, and hope the next book ties the loose ends of this book.

About the Author
Bob Kastenbaum’s exploits as skating messenger apparently qualified him to become editor of two community newspapers, an eccentric career trajectory that somehow led to a graduate scholarship in philosophy and a Ph.D. in psychology at the University of Southern California (1959). He was most interested in fields of psychological study that barely existed at the time: lifespan development and aging, time perspective, creativity, and death and dying. Kastenbaum became part of an emerging cadre that overcame the prevailing neglect and resistance to these issues. He worked in varied settings as clinician, researcher, activist, hospital administrator, educator, and author. The innovative programs he introduced into a geriatric hospital and his article, “The Reluctant Therapist” have been credited with preparing the way for increased attention to the needs and potentials of vulnerable elders and terminally ill people.  With Dick Kalish, he founded Omega, the first peer-reviewed journal focused on death-related issues.  Kastenbaum taught the first regularly-scheduled university course on death and dying and came up with the first textbook (Death,Society, & Human Experience, 1977). He also established the first university-based educational and research center on death and dying (Wayne State University, 1966).  His other books include The Psychology ofDeath  (1972, 1990, 2000); Dorian, Graying: Is Youth the Only Thing Worth Having?  (1995), and On Our Way. The Final Passage Through Life and Death (2004).  He has also served as editor of the Macmillan Encyclopedia of Death andDying,  (2003) and two previous encyclopedias.  In the public sphere he has served as a co-founder  of The National Caucus on Black Aging, consultant to the United States Senate Special Subcommittee on Aging, and participant in developing the Veterans Administration’s geriatric research and educational centers, and the landmark National Hospice Demonstration Project.  Kastenbaum lives in Tempe, Arizona with Bunny (wife), Angel (The Incredible Leaping Dog), enhanced by Pumpkin and Snowflake  in the cat department.  Along with his continuing research interests, Kastenbaum has been writing book and verse for musicals and operas. He notes that nobody has died in the two most recently premiered operas (Closing Time;American Gothic, music by Kenneth LaFave), but cannot make any such promises about the next opera.

EXCELLENT PRIMER

I was touched by Kastenbaum's respectful tone and attitude throughout this book. He provides not only a wonderful global overview (with focus on the American death-denying culture), but also a personal element that somehow brings more authenticity and authority to the subject. This was the first text required through the American Institute of Health Care Professional's Grief Counseling Certification course, and I am glad for it. I have a master's in psychology and was already a Hospice volunteer, but this book really helped me feel like I was digging into my chosen area of interest. Statistics, concepts, terminology and cultural comparatives are all here. The only thing the text doesn't truly do is prepare the reader to facilitate a bereavement group meeting, but it lays excellent groundwork for moving toward that action.

Very Educational

I am currently working on getting credentialed as a certified grief counselor. I was very hesitant about taking an online course, having never done one in the past, and always preferred the lecture environment. What I like most about his book is that it reads a lot like a lecture. Kastenbaum is very detail oriented and I find myself having few questions. It's enjoyable to read and I look forward to doing my coursework. I think this is a great introductory textbook to help counselors, and really anyone, gain an understanding of death in our society.

Excellent source of information regarding Death, Grieving, and Cultural Differences

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book (all 530 pages!) because of its' comprehensiveness on a complex topic. The author has an amazing writing style which engages the reader. Further, the fact that it is in its' 10th edition attests to its' use as an introduction to further study of the topic for health care students, or interested parties on this subject.

About the Author

Rosemarie Tichler was casting director and artistic producer at the Public Theater (New York). She teaches in New York University’s Graduate Acting Program. She is the recipient of the Casting Society of America’s Apple Award, the Villager Award for Excellence in Casting, and two Tony Award Producing nominations. Tichler founded the Public Theater’s Shakespeare Lab, now in its sixteenth year. She is on the board of directors of New York’s Classic Stage Company. She is the coauthor, with Barry Jay Kaplan, of Actors at Work. 

Barry Jay Kaplan’s plays include Landscape of Desire. He is the recipient of the Joe Callaway Award and the Whitfield Cooke Best Play Award. He is also the author of the best-selling novels Black Orchid (with Nicholas Meyer) and Biscayne. His short stories have been nominated three times for the Pushcart Prize. He is the coauthor, with Rosemarie Tichler, of Actors at Work.
